The MG36 in real life.

The MG36 is the Light Machine Gun variant of the G36K Assault Rifle. It is fitted with a 100 round Beta C-Mag magazine and has a built-in bipod so it can be emplaced on the ground/walls to help control recoil. It fires the standard 5.56mm NATO cartridge like the other variants of the G36 family. The weapon is no longer produced by Heckler & Koch.

Appearances in Battlefield

The MG36 appears in Battlefield: Bad Company and Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Battlefield: Bad Company

In singleplayer, it can be found as a collectible and picked up randomly from dead Mercenaries.

In multiplayer, it is issued to the Support kit as an unlockable. It has a built-in reflex sight that has a smaller and dimmer dot which allows more precise aiming, but also limits the user's view as there is no peripheral vision with this scope. It has 150 round drum magazine and 300 rounds in reserve. It has a high rate of fire, good accuracy and medium damage, but is balanced out by high recoil.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2

The MG36 is also featured in Battlefield: Bad Company 2. It takes 42000 points total to unlock it for the Medic kit, and is the second last unlock for this kit. Its appearance and statistics from the original game have not been changed. It makes a decent LMG for the medic kit in multiplayer, as it has a built in Reflex Sight, thus freeing up a Specialization slot. However, if you use an ACOG attachment, the sight will have a better zoom.(confirmed on PS3) Using the "Marksman LMG Training" specialization is recommended to counter the high recoil of this weapon, making it extremely effective as it will now have low recoil and a high damage output. Be warned when playing in hardcore the reflex sight does not appear when aiming even if a red dot or ACOG attachment specialization is turned on.
